Batshuayi wants CL football: err – at Chelsea?

Batshuayi

Maybe Michy Batshuayi needs to check out last season’s Premier League table.

The young Belgian international – linked with ourselves, Spurs and Palace over the past few weeks – has finally opted for a Chelsea move.

However, at one stage yesterday the striker was reported as being focused on only joining a club which was involved in Champions League football.

That came soon after the rumours of the move to south London had arisen but finally such lofty ambitions bit the dust as Roman Abramovich presumably reached for the cheque book.

It means that the Marseilles front man has now changed his mind about the Champions League or indeed even Europa League football and settled to play for a club that finished 10th last season.

We’re sure he thought the whole thing through very closely! Whether he becomes a regular first teamer of a super sub will now be interesting to observe.

The likelihood of chelsea finishing 10th or below in the next 5 seasons is highly unlikely ,the truth of the matter is im at the point that i wouldnt even want batshuiyai or lacazzette at our great club. Putting the claret and blue on just for the money or maybe in their minds to use us as some sort of stepping stone. Between the 2 of them these guys never have one good word to say about us. If battyman does go to chelski at least he will find out who the frrrrruck we are when he comes up against us a super sub or a bit part player …..onwards and upwards COYI!!

I don’t think that’s fair to them. They haven’t said any words about us at all, let alone “no good” ones..And that’s what you would expect from a player usually, they’re not going to talk up a team because they have no guarantee they’ll join that team. Let’s be honest, West Ham is not a big name in Europe, these players aren’t going to have the same special attraction to the club that we do. If they believe they’re of the quality that could play for a bigger club or a club in the Champions League, they’re going to prefer that and that’s expectable. What you do want to see is once they come, that they see what we’re all about and then show they want to be here. We’ve seen it with Payet, it’s a known fact he did not want to join us, he preferred to stay in Marseilles, however in the end money talked and with Marseilles’ ongoing financial problems, they had to sell him. But what we saw is once he joined, it didn’t take long to see that he had formed a great relationship with the club and the fans, he loves the club and I’m confident he wouldn’t leave…And that’s what you’d hope for in the case of Lacazette etc.

According to EXWHUEMPLOYEE on his site our fee was accepted and it looked like he would be coming to us but then Chelsea bid and it was due to salary at Chelsea being much more than we were willing to pay. If true we will see next season how good he is, from watching him a bit at the tail end of last season and briefly in the Euro’s I think we have had a lucky escape I don’t think he is anything more than a small upgrade on Sakho.
