West Ham are exploring a complex plan which would hopefully seal an eventual  long term deal for Alex Song to join the club permanently.

But whilst he is carrying a surgery-threatening ankle injury, the Irons are trying to do a’ pay as you play’ loan deal with Barca paying his wages outside of those appearances.

The Hammers have suggested that they are then given the option to take the player on a permanent deal in the January window when, hopefully, his injury worried are sorted

The Catalan giants want to do a permanent deal NOW with the Irons taking on the full wage burden but ClaretandHugh sources said: “That’s not going to happen. we need to sort out a safeguarded deal.

“Barcelona are maybe hoping some other club will come in. Understandable, but we aren’t going pushed into such a wage deal in these circumstances.”

Stick to your guns 2 Daves,if they are not going to let him come free and he won’t make a deal on his wages leave him with the problem,
We are not short in the defensive midfield area and others are coming on the radar

    I agree completely.

We now have plenty of cover in defensive mid. Any deal for Song should only be on our terms, or not at all. If he doesn’t end up with us, so be it.

Agreed. It looks like this French player from PSG is a back-up in case the Song deal falls through.
