West Ham are due to continue negotiations for AC Milan striker Carolos Bacca after the weekend.
We understand a meeting in planned for Monday when the club will attempt to bring down his wage demands of around £125k a week.
They are also likely to offer performance related clauses in a deal which could see him reach the earnings level he is after in a deal not dissimilar to Payet’s.
Bacca believes he should become top paid player at the club with the French midfielder and that would see him more than doubling his current £60k a week deal in Italy.
The 29 year old grabbed 18 goals in 38 appearances for the club last term and has managed 13 in 33 at international level for Colombia.
Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in him and that my have helped to push the player’s demands higher. However, like Payet, his age is working against him as he hits 30 in September.
If he doesn’t accept what the club are prepared to offer him then I would leave him in Italy.I want to see a player want to come to us without being totally mercenary.
The negociations are only just begun. He has to get sensible like everyone does. I think he will come at the right price.
If as expected we sell Valencia and Sahko, we should raise enough money for Gabbiadini, as well as spending most of the allotted £30 mil for a striker on Bacca.
We would then have 3 quality strikers ( when was the last time we could say that ).
Yes I include Carroll in that. I suspect this will be his first real season with us

Our problem isn’t going forward its defending from the m/f and defense , buy quality in those areas and problem solved !
All we need is a forward who 1, wants to come and 2, has quality ! Which is not an easy thing to achieve , buy for the sake of buying and you could end up with egg on the mush .

Morning I just watched some footage of him on you tube and im impressed, he is exactly the type of player I have wanted for a long time, like defoe he has good movement, two good feet that he can finish with,good header of the ball and the main thing is he seems to be in the right place and can shift his feet quick to finish,hope we get him and he proves me right, coyi
