Moyes told reporters post match “It didn’t start difficult, we played quite well in the first half. I thought we showed good moments, maybe a bit unfortunate not to go a goal ahead. Liverpool had chances as well which we knew would be the case and we had to make the most of ours.

But, there was some good stuff in the first half and I was happy but certainly not the second half. It is really difficult to deal with them.

We worked most of the week to try and find a way to deal with them and try to contain them the best we could and I think there was parts of the game where we did. But, ultimately, there was moments…today was the first day we made individual mistakes that led to goals and because of that, even the corner kick too, the second half I thought we gave the ball away and allowed Liverpool to break that.

Partly before that, we were well organised, had a good shape and made it hard for Liverpool to get through and tried to do some damage ourselves. When we went 3-0 down, it just didn’t want to lose heavily so we had to make sure that wasn’t going to be the case.

We knew it would be hard to get back in the game, we did get one back, it give us a sniff but you know, Liverpool were very good and very much in-form.”
