Report: £3M Transfer Saga Finally Settled

|

By Gonzo

It is being reported that Wolverhampton Wanderers have agreed a deal with West Ham defender Craig Dawson.

Wolves had been keen to sign Dawson during the previous transfer window, with the player himself being keen to move back to the midlands to be closer to his family. Unfortunately due to a combination of Nayef Aguerd’s injury and a transfer request from Issa Diop the deal was scuppered.

Now however, Wolves have returned and agreed a deal with The Hammers believed to be in the region of £3m.

32-year-old Dawson had just six months remaining on his current contract at the London Stadium, and he made it abundantly clear that due to his family situation he was not going to sign an extension.

West Ham boss David Moyes sensibly refused to sanction the transfer before last weeks fixture against the midlands club, but now the path is clear for him to sign.

Dawson was initially a loan signing from Watford which subsequently became a £2.2m permanent transfer due to his excellent performances. I believe Dawson has represented excellent value for money during his time at West Ham and has produced a level of performance far in advance of what had been expected.

Unfortunately Dawson has suffered with injury this season, and has struggled with the daily commute to East London due to his need to remain at home. We wish him all the very best for the future.

Quite a theme running through the Irons at all levels – players hacked off and wanting gone. The young stars were first to see the brick wall in front of them, but now it’s the seniors.

Shame to see him leave but respect his reasons. I hope he does well wherever he goes (not necessarily against us!).

Go forth and conquer Daws (preferably against Souse!)

Family first! Good luck to him.
