West Ham counted out of the Abraham race

|

It seems that whenever Simon Jordan makes make one of his regular appearances on talkSPORT he finds it necessary to say something derogatory, or at the very least, unhelpful about the Hammers.

He’s made it clear he’s no fan of the owners and it seems that whatever issues may be in the current footballing scene the Irons are always on his mind.

Tammy Abraham has been regularly linked with us over recent weeks and was recently reported by The Telegraph as having been put up for sale with – in some places a £40 millions transfer fee attached.

Most would consider Abraham among the better strikers in the country but according to Jordan he is TOO good for the Irons – talk about insulting a club which is clearly on it’s way toewards the top level..

But commenting  on the radio station he claimed that whilst not being fancied by Chelsea he is good enough for Barcelona and too good for us!

He said: “Tammy Abraham can operate at that (top) level if he’s given the opportunity to do so. That opportunity is not going to come at Chelsea

“So it now becomes about the economics of how this boy goes out to the right club for him.

“I don’t think, with due respect, it’ll be West Ham because he’ll have different aspirations. I could see him at a club like Barcelona or a club in Italy or one of the top six in this country. This boy could play in the Manchester United side.”

I’m not so sure what the fuss is about, I don’t think he is that good, certainly not good enough for Barcelona . .I think he could be good for us but wouldn’t go mad if we didn’t get him …what about ings in his last year of contract

If Anton Ferdinand is good enough for Barca and Julien Faubert good enough for Real Madrid, you never know! .. 🙂

  • Che says:

Can we afford to pay 40 million for him?

From the noise coming from this site. The answer would be no.

In which case it proves Jordan correct.

    • Or you can believe the media reports that he will actually cost £40m of course – where do u imagine these media figures come from …that someone has Abramovich’s ear ?

Only the financial dopers (Man City, Chelsea,.PSG etc.),.and perhaps one or two of the established CL clubs that play by the rules, will have £40m kicking around this summer. Common sense says Tammy Abraham will not go for anywhere near £40m in a Covid-affected market. Players know it. Clubs know it. Agents know it. Surely.

Yes, and thats exaclty who Jordan is suggesting he is ‘good enough for’

But very evidently he can’t get in the team at one of them: Chelsea. Jordan’s argument – surprise, surprise – is flawed. If he can’t get in at Chelsea (where Werner, who’s only scored a handful this season, is preferred, as far as I can see), I can’t see him attracting the likes of Man City and PSG. My point is that he’s an attractive option to a club like West Ham but only at a reasonable Covid-market price.

      • che says:

who knows, but if he is good enough to start for a ‘top’ level club which Jordan suggests, then that sort of price is pretty standard. Could we pay that?

  • Andy says:

Hes a salesman doing a salesmans job!
Would not read too much into this unless Barcelona bid 50m but lets be honest thats unlikely !

  • Taffyhammer says:

Simon Jordan knows everything. Never been in doubt. If he says so, it will be so.

  • Graham Watts says:

If he was totally reliable and right attitude Chelsea would keep him so too risky for anything like £40m

    • Razorwine says:

Why on earth would anyone listen to Jordan and 40mill is definitely a joke maybe 25 at tops . Barca certainly no where near good enough for and maybe they wouldn’t be interested unless they think he can improve under their guidance? Would love him tammy that dopey Jordan at West ham but think maybe we will be getting in someone from souceks advice and we need to keep it tight as money from lack of spending in Jan has already gone on buying lingard so selling lanzini Yarmo Fred and a clear out needs to go towards keeper centre back mid def and left back whoa who actually can defend and which although OK form has returned for cress his certainly cost us many goals from crosses that should have been stopped .

  • Jamie Hickman says:

Jordan has been making ridiculous claims about this kid for months, personally I wouldn’t be fussed either way if he signed. I think he’s an ok player but nothing special. I’d be more excited about Hlozek signing to be honest
