West Ham have Tammy Abraham high on their list of potential striker targets during the summer winter.
And David Moyes is the only man who will be making the decision on who does or does not arrive.
The club’s record on strikers has been extremely poor over several seasons but we understand that the Chelsea front man is very much on his and the club’s mind.
The price being quoted of £40 million is set to fall to around £30m – £35 million and the manager has that plus some for his summer dealings with a top striker the serious priority this summer.
Abraham would prefer to stay in London and should as we all hope – and dare we say expect – qualify for Europe this afternoon the Hammers will be an attractive option for him.
Both Adam Armstrong and Ivan Toney are also among those the manager is eyeing but the Brentford striker will remain where he is should the Bees win their Championship play off final although Abraham remains the No one target regardless.
It’ll be intersting to see just who WH bring in during the window. Pre-season friendlies are great opportumities to have a matchday look at some of our youth/fringe players. If WH only have 50 mill to spend Abraham’s asking is way too high. We need players in other positions too. Just wondering how much they will actually spend by close of window?
Hugh I would love if you would stop writing about Abraham, West Ham fans don’t want him signed for the money you are mentioning – he is not a natural finisher, his movement is very average for a CF, his work rate and ability to create opportunities himself is poor. He reminds me of a slighly better version of Diangana, for a big player is not determined in his tackles etc.. Yes if you put him in front of goals he will score. We need more than this. To sign a player for this amount of money he needs to have great movement, can create goals from nothing himself etc. I would not be happy signing a player who is clearly not good enough for a team we are supposed to be competing to improve us. If Moyes believes he is worth it then I would say I just hope he is right as if he is not the fans will turn on him big time as if we read social media the majority of fans are not in favour of this signing. Put it this way who would you prefer leading the line Antonio or Abraham – its a no brainer for me. Therefore why would on a player who is not better than what we have.

Hugh I understand this is what you are being told and if true it is very upsetting and I accept your point and you believe he would be a good signing even at 30m but could I ask you would you see Abraham as a better no 9 than Antonio for the system we play ?

I watched that game too and couldn’t understand what all the fuss was about regarding Toney. Poor movement, missed 3 sitters and didn’t link up very well. Hopefully they go up and we dodge a bullet. I still think Marega on a free is worth a punt this summer, alongside another or 2 if (when) we don’t get Lingard
I don’t think it’s a question of quality, he is a very good player with regular games and confidence. Personally I think Villa should sign him, it worked for him there and I think it would help him as a player to find his mojo again. I think 30/40 million for a striker won’t be feesible next year for us, if we’re hoping to add depth in other areas. Of all the linked strikers, Sima excites me the most. What I can only predict might happen, is that Moyes will adopt his consistently patient approach and will look to lower tiers again for quality amongst the championship ranks. It’s worked this year for him and I hope it continues to work! Patience and trust required this summer.

As for the other candidates.
Toney, over priced and not top drawer quality from the times I’ve seen him play.
Armstrong, not good enough to improve our team, possibly as a squad player for a reasonable fee, not the figures I’ve seen quoted.
Abraham looking like he will play in claret and blue next season, but at Villa Park nonetheless! A promising young player who is overpriced and overpaid.
I don’t do social media, but also don’t see that type of player working for us.

I wouldn’t want toney, I have watched him in a few games and he has a tendency to kick out or throw an arm at some one, in the world of var he would get found out, if we want tammy they would want rice, I think moysie has something up his sleeve and will pull something put the bag

on the chelsea web site they are saying please take him west ham, he is useless, and hes a tap in merchant, thats coming from people who watch him regularly, i hope we dont buy him, too many doubts for that amount of money. stay clear please
