Hammers could land fifth summer signing for free

|

West Ham could sign defender Nikola Maksimovic for free, according to The Sunday Mirror (Print Edition; page 77)

The Hammers are competing against former West Ham manager Manuel Pellegrini now at Real Betis to secure his signature it has been claimed.

The 29-year-old was released by the Serie A big hitters at the end of the 2020/21 campaign.  He made 27 appearances but refused to sign an extension and is now a free agent.

The defender has made his name in Italy, starring with Torino having arrived from Red Star Belgrade in 2013.

He earned 25 caps for Serbia and could be an ideal replacement for Fabian Balbuena who left West Ham last week after his contract expired.

West Ham signed Craig Dawson permanently for £2.2m from Watford with the player officially registered from last Wednesday.

Three other younger players have been signed in form of Okoflex Armstrong from Celtic, Thierry Nevers from  Reading and Pierre Ekwah Elimby from Chelsea have also moved to East London over the summer.

I think most can see that we are still waiting on our 1st signing.

5th summer signing? You could’ve made it 8 with the women’s team. Except 95% of your readers do not have any interest in the signings of unproven kids or women.

As Alex says, the only thing we are interested in is our FIRST signing.

Stop insulting our intelligence guys with misleading headlines. The sooner you think like real fans the better.

Good to see that England’s progression through Euros has brought the best out in the fans.
I have a passing interest in academy and women’s signings, but am sure C&H know how many reads each has.
Regardless, looking forward to the Alex and Doug website, presumably called the Real Intelligent WHU Fanz.

I bet your not looking forward to it as much as Karen Bradys next column.

I have a big interest in the Academy signings but as you rightly pointed out that’s exactly what they are. Okoflex 1 appearance for celtic, Nevers will probably warm the academy bench. Elimby is highly rated talent wise but questions over his work ethic, hopefully if he gets around the first team the likes of Nolan, Pearce, Moyes can get through to him.

I think many fans are eager to see movement with a player that will be in contention for the first time. Worryingly we don’t seem close on anything and reports state we are waiting till after the euros as we think that’s when we will get best value for money and we still haven’t narrowed down our main targets. Time is of the essence as we all know we are no strangers to a transfer saga.

Daka to Leicester, Firpo to Leeds? What’s going on? Two targets gone to competition, WHU dragging their heals.

    • mooro66uk says:

Did the club name these as targets or was it the newspapers? If it was the newspapers, why do you believe them? They’ve connected us to almost a hundred players so far, including over 20 strikers. We surely couldn’t be interested in that many players. I’ve no doubt that Moyes has his priority list and if either of those players were on it he would have been active.

Gotta agree, I am anxiously waiting for our FIRST signing like most supporters at this point.
