Wolves may be facing injury blow

|

Nelson Semedo

Wolves look likely to face the Irons tomorrow (Sun) without in form defender Nelson Semedo, after he limped off with a potentially serious injury, which is suspected to be his hamstring.

The right-wing-back needed assistance from the medical staff to walk down the tunnel and was replaced by Jonny Castro Otto, marking his injury return.

“(We have) Jonny and Ki,” head coac Bruno Lage said. “It was also in our mind (to consider rotating) because it is hard to play against Arsenal and West Ham from Thursday to Sunday. It was in our mind to see which players recover better and put some fresh legs in the game.

“These kind of things happen and that’s why I want a squad with competition, so we can always take the best decision.

“If we don’t have Semedo we will find a good solution for Sunday.”

The Hammers meanwhile look set to be without Ryan Fredericks with Vladi Coufal injured and Ben Johnson set to fill the right back spot.

Craig Dawson, despite carrying knocks for most of the season, is expected to be fit but should he not then Issa Diop showed a welcome return to form against Leicester City.

It remains to be seen whether the manager will persevere with Mikey Antonio up front or push Jarrod Bowen into the forward role accompanied by Pablo Fornals,, Said Benrahma, Nikola Vlasic or Manu Lanzini behind him.

There could even be a role for Mark Noble should the boss ring the changes by resting Tomas Soucek although that may offer an opportunity for Alex Kral who has barely featured since his loan move from Russia.

With just one win in their last five games the Hammers are due a shake up but whether Moyes will give the regular team another chance to show it’s real form remains to be seen.
