Lingard exit confirmed

|

Manchester United have confirmed that Jesse Lingard will leave the club this summer.

The attacking midfielder is departing Old Trafford at the end of his contract, bringing to an end a 20-year spell at Old Trafford.

Lingard joined the club as a nine-year-old back in 2001 and came through the club’s academy ranks before making his debut in 2014.

In total, the England international, who is a Hammers target this summer, won the FA Cup and the League Cup during his time with his hometown club.

Of course, his loan spell in east London was nothing short of sensational, as he propelled himself back into the England team and potentially back into contention at United.

He subsequently snubbed a permanent move to the Irons, but he could now be available on a free transfer, with David Moyes again weighing up a move.

West Ham have seen Lingard reject them in both of the last two windows but Moyes may feel as though this can be third time lucky.

Very misleading article, he didn’t thumb his nose at us in the last transfer window, he was blocked from joining us. I don’t blame him for giving it another go at his boyhood club, we’d want that loyalty from our players too. I personally think he would be a great addition, he was great in his first few games with us and not bad after. A lot of people are very selective in their memories and are a bit deluded. If we got 20 decent games out of him in a season thats 15 more than Yarma and probably 10 more than Benrahma. The guy isn’t Maradonna or Messi unfortunately but he is a player with a decent collection of England caps and no Injury record.

    Exactly. Get him in!

Think he might have decided to stay and fight for his place at Man U the first time round over coming to us, but in the last window he was blocked from coming to us, and also blocked from moving to Newcastle by Man U. Now his contract has run down they can’t stop him from.

Certainly gets my vote. Had we had him in the team we’d have got 6th place in the league. He’s a class act with at least 2 or 3 more years left in him.
