Rice starts for England

|

Declan Rice is in the England team for their clash with Germany tonight.

The Three Lions take on their old enemies in the Nations League, aiming to bounce back from the weekend’s defeat to Hungary.

Jarrod Bowen made his debut in that game but he is on the bench this evening, while Rice plays in midfield.

He is joined in midfield by Kalvin Phillips of Leeds United, and will hope to repeat the result from Euro 2020, the last time the two sides played each other.

In that game, the Three Lions won 2-0 at a raucous Wembley in a result that essentially powered the side to the Euro 2020 final, where they were beaten by Italy on penalties.

Rice played that day too, and will be out to add another big result to his international CV.

Full England XI: Pickford; Walker, Stones, Maguire, Trippier; Phillips, Rice; Saka, Mount, Sterling; Kane. Subs: James, Pope, Grealish, Guehi, Coady, Ward-Prowse, Gallagher, Bellingham, Bowen, Alexander-Arnold, Ramsdale, Abraham.
