Report: Spurs want Hammers target

|

Tottenham have entered the race to sign Jesse Lingard on a free transfer, according to a new report from the Daily Telegraph.

The Hammers are interested in a deal to secure the former Manchester United star, who has left Old Trafford at the end of his contract.

But it is now being reported that Antonio Conte’s side are also interested in doing a deal for Lingard.

They held talks with the player’s camp in January ahead of the summer, telling his representatives that they could be willing to return for him in the summer.

Lingard has yet to make a decision over his future and there is also said to be interest from Everton and Newcastle in signing the playmaker.

Spurs can offer Champions League football and have been spending big this summer, recently confirming the £60m signing of Richarlison from Everton.

Lingard is seen as a homegrown option who could add depth to the squad but it isn’t clear if he is willing to trade one bench role for another; he would play more minutes in east London.

Of course every West Ham target is also wanted by Newcastle (pots of money) and Spurs (arch enemies) according to the media. I mean you couldn’t make it up. Could you?
