Hammers regulars rated

|

Having previously rated the summer signings on Claretandhugh here is how we have seen the remainder of those who have made first team appearances this season,

By Hughie Southon

Fabianski: Another reasonable season with some fine saves although there have been errors and his distribution still lets him down 7

Johnson: Not totally convincing and appears to still be on something of a learning curve 5

Coufal: Has looked nothing like the same player since a two-month injury absence last season 5

Dawson: Injury has not helped and although usually solid at centre of defence has not been the same player as last season 6

Zouma: Dependable and composed at the centre of defence 7

Cresswell: Still a decent attacking force down the left side but found out by wingers with real pace 6

Rice:Near to his best at times but occasionally struggled and one hopes he stops those long range shots 7+

Soucek: Nothing like the player we saw in his first season…some sloppy passing and careless in possession 4

Lanzini: A series of pretty ordinary performances 4

Fornals: Hard to weight up such is his inconsistency. There’s been good and bad. What you see is not always what you get 5

Benrahma: Has emerged as one of our best players in a poor season and certainly looks like the new penalty taker 8

Bowen: Still struggling after last season’s stellar campaign

Antonio: Seemingly past his best with only the occasional impact performance 4

Hi Hugh , wanted your opinion on why we are not performing so well . The effort doesn’t seem there .

Fair assessment, Hugh. I personally think Coufal needs to be back in the team regularly as first choice – his defensive abilities are missed. Ashby looks the next best option at RB to me. Benramha still gives the ball away too much but he does offer a threat to opponents. Our players in general are looking a bit jaded. Hopefully the break will invigorate them. Looking forward to seeing a fully fit Cornet as well.
