Now miracle man Slav smashes Everton hoodoo

|

evertonpicDavid Sullivan’s Sunday Sport newspaper once ran a story under the headline ‘World War 2 bomber found on the moon.’

Well let me tell you today’s staggering victory over Everton at Goodison was even more unlikely than that – a stunning comeback of epic propositions which gave us our first victory at the place since 2005,

Miracle working Slaven Bilic has now taken us to another new high – smashing an Everton hoodoo which has haunted us for far too long.

Everything you wanted from a game of football was here but the final result was so far out of sight that absolutely no one saw it coming even though Kevin Miralles had been red carded for a second bookable offence in the first half.

For a long time it had looked as though Everton – despite the handicap – were benefitting from a midweek cruise against Villa after we had seen our squad depleted with injuries and thethe squad drained to their very limits after the Spurs epic.

Yet despite goals from the inevitable Lukaku early on – his eighth in eight against us – and Aaron Lennon early in the second we returned with pace, power and passion in the last 12 minutes to score through Antonio, sub Sakho from Payet’s assist with London’s Player of the year sliding home the third.

Unbelivable is an overworked word but there is no other. It was an astounding victory from nowhere- possibly the greatest in a season of epic results.

In between times Adrian had saved a spot kick from Lukaku – the moment which seemed to spark life into us for the first time after a lack lustre display.

We are coming to the point where we will be running out of words to describe this astonishing squad of players who simply never know when they are beaten.

Guts, resilience, skill, and everything else you want from your team is there and now I am going to say it – this is the best Irons side I’ve ever seen.

They are all utterly extraordinary and the manager just goes from new highs to new highs.

And yes it really is UNBELIEVABLE!

I totally agree Stinger, We have not had a results sequence like that ever to my recollection…maybe 1986 was close, but we certainly didn’t win away at Anfield that year so this lot looks the tops.
My admiration for this Manager goes beyond bounds, He must be in the same league as Greenwood ,and Lyall already, and is one of the best around.
      The guys a legend.

Hammerman6, for me this season is becoming my favourite ever. I first started going in 1988. So just missed the amazing 86/87 season.

I now have 4 objectives for the remainder of the season.

1, Beat our highest Premier League Points Total. (57)
        2. Get our first ever + goal difference as a Prem Team.
        3. Match or beat our highest Prem Wins total. (16)

4 and the one I want the most, get to the FA Cup Final.

But regardless of what happens, THANK YOU SLAVEN BILIC.

        COYI!!!!!!!!!!!

Respect the point….Sam would have been happy if his team pulled it back to 2-1.But again from nowhere the result reverses.Slav seems to have installed firmware that brings a calmness where other sides would have conceded more goals. This team fought to win against spuds, today they thought to reverse and win, they have earned every point won.I love Slavs “greedy nature” he wants all the points, mine, mine all mine 1 point is 2 points lost-not interested. For me,along with the Anfield win, these 2 results have made my season

Had a feeling with 20 mins to go that we still might get something from the game but the win and all 3 points was just amazing .This team and manager are something else !

    ENTERTAINMENT
we now can say this team is worth every penny the fans have paid to watch them,
But we are getting the results as well,
Slav went for it again no negative approach,we were the better team in the first half but got done by a great Forward again,
We were the best team in the second half as well so how any one can say we stole it is stupid,
Never think we are going to loose now but at 1-0 I did have that same Southampton feeling
Enter Sakho we have been waiting for him to come back, and he repaid us with a goal and assist in what is our best win coming from behind 10. Men or not
