Turks shocked “at meteoric fall of Tore”

|

slavtoreAn interesting article on what is described as the “meteoric fall of Gokhan Tore from being a cult figure among Besiktas fans to the laughing stock of the East End” has appeared on the Turkish website http://www.turkish-football.com

It starts by claiming: “Bilic is the reason Tore joined over the summer. The Hammers head coach wanted his star man since he took charge of the club last summer.

The article adds: “On paper it looked a great deal. In fact Besiktas appeared to have been short changed in losing a key asset on temporary move. For whatever reason Tore immediately fell out of favour with West Ham fans. Perhaps it was his playing style, his work rate or simply that they wanted him to prove himself before getting behind him.”

Claiming he got ff to a decent start and was named Man of the Match following his display in the 1-0 victory over Bournemouth it recalls  he made more key passes than any other player over the 90 minutes (4), made three successful dribbles and pulled off seven crosses including the one that resulted in the goal.”

But it says that  when West Ham crashed out of the Europa League at the qualification stage for the second season running after losing 1-0 against Astra Tore was lambasted after the game with fans ripping into the winger.

But it then point out that the Turkish international is the type of player that thrives when the fans are behind hi and that a confident Tore is capable of providing magic – something Bilic knows all too well from his time at Besiktas.

Tore – an orphan who never knew his real father – and the article says he often refers to Bilic as being like a father to him.

In one of his first interviews after joining the Irons he said:  “He is the best manager I have worked under and he is like a father to the players. You feel like you are family.

Knowing the player well, Turkish Football adds: “Tore’s confidence has hit rock bottom and Bilic made matters worse when he gave him a rare start against Middlesbrough in the last Premier League game only to bring him off at half-time.

It adds: “As if Tore’s season could not sink any lower he has just been ruled out for five weeks due to injury. The 24-year-old will have time to reflect and get his act in order over his time off.

“There is no doubting his talent and he has already proved himself under Bilic in the past. There is still a long way to go this season and the Hammers could use all the help they can get right now considering they are in the relegation zone.”

It concludes: “If West Ham supporters want the best out of Tore singling him out might not be the best way to go about it. He has not exactly been setting the league alight but who has this season?”

tore arrived at the wrong time unfortunately for him. The season before all the new signings hit the ground running. Payet Lanzini etc all impressed early on so the crowd got behind them which had the effect of boosting their confidence further. We see the effects of that with Payet a player who said he was inspired by the crowd singing his name etc which helped motivate him towards the best form of his life. This year every player coming in has been expected to take us to the next level and be better than the players from the year before. Well it was never going to happen. Chances of unearthing another Payet or Lanzini as cheaply as we got them were slim to nothing. All the talk preseason was about us going to the next level the big marquee signings etc. So any player coming in this year had a lot to live up to and theirin lies the problem. We’ve been spoilt. People expect these players to have instant impact and if they dont then the crowd turns. Tore became the scapegoat for the type of person that needs a scapegoat. Someone to blame. Anyone. Tore has come in for more stick because he is perceived as only in the team because he is Bilics love child. It’s a familiar theme for the managers pet. Ask frank lampard or Kevin Nolan. Personally I think tore is a much better player than he has shown so far and I still hope to see him come good and prove the doubters wrong. There is a good chance he won’t though because confidence is a massive thing in football or anyone performing in front of a crowd. And once the boo boys start it’s very hard to come back from that.

this is an example as to why Bilic will never be a top manager. He’s far too pally with his players and that attitude never works out for nay manager. He’s clearly a nice guy but too soft hearted to be a top manager.

Another dead loss – the sooner we get rid of him the better!

It does bring Slav’s judgement into question!

  • TRB says:

…….Tore, Calleri and Zaza each signed a loan deal, which suggests the club thought they were worth the trial. After seven league games they haven’t impressed….so yes, they can go if a vast improvement doesn’t happen.

…….Slaven Bilic signed Payet, Antonio, and Ogbonna on permanent deals when he first arrived and Lanzini on another loan – and that ‘trial period’ has turned into a permanent contract.

……. I’d say that Bilic’s judgment is sound!!
