Hammers speak out on Crouch

|

CrouchWest Ham are weighing up the costs of handing Peter Crouch a two year Upton Park deal.

The huge former England man has been named this morning as a Hammers target and ClaretandHugh can confirm the Stoke and former England striker is on the club’s hit list.

The Potteries outfit will want £2 million for the striker and we have been told that the player is on personal terms of £60k a week.

That would make the cost of  his arrival at the Hammers around £80k a week and take him up to the age of 35.

A source told us: “It’s a decent chunk for a player of his age – is he worth that? -Maybe. We are looking at it.”

What I cant work out? Is reports are claiming the deal for samuel eto is off due to wage demands and the club are looking for someone younger. Yet we after crouch who is the same age??????

Peter crouch is over rated and if it comes off il lose what little patience I have left for allardyce!!

in which case I could quite understand Winston Reid holding out for a substantial raise

No,no, and thrice no!! Not only does he not meet the under 27 rule but he has hardly scored much in the last two seasons and we need a prolific goalscorer not someone whose career is on the wane; although that might be why Allardyce would be interested in him. Why not try and get Connor Wickham from Sunderland, he ended the season n fine form and meets all the criteria the club has put in place for transfers. On a separate note although our defensive performance yesterday was excellent and the academy players did very well, as did Kouyate and Poyet, going forward we were an embarrassment and I am not sure what Allardyce was watching if he thought we created lots of chances that just needed putting away. Poor Cole was left isolated and if there ever was a game that shows that Nolan is at best an impact sub this was it. We have better options in Zarate and Valencia now, so better use them Sam or you won’t last the season.
