Robbie Earle is not part of the football luvvie set which too often likes to say the right thing in front of the cameras.
The former Wimbledon midfielder is a bright cookie who generally has a different take on many issues and it’s refreshing to get an entirely aspect on things from a somebody who is not part of the “West Ham bubble” in which we become emerged via our passion.
As a pundit for the Premier League on NBCSN. he watched a recent Hammers game under David Moyes and although many won’t agree with what he has to say, it’s as usual an honest appraisal from an articulate guy with no axes to grind.
Here he discusses his view of how Moyes operates, whether it’s right for the Hammers and where he thinks the club should go next.

Have to disagree. Whether or not you think Moyes should stay, that was not an analysis that would earn him the label ‘bright cookie’ is my book. ‘Needs a change’- what after six months? He said it ‘Doesn’t feel like six months’. Well, it is…
Somthe normal pundit wail about how we should give managers a proper chance, stability blah blah- that goes out the window in this case. Moyes is an ‘odd job man you get in to do the shelves..’ Well he must have had a lot of shelves to put up at Everton. How many years was he there? I would have thought the evidence of his post Everton career suggests he is NOT a short term fix man but can build something if he is given time.
My vote is for Moyes to stay, but I accept there are good arguments for a different manager(some of which I have read on here in the last few days).But this was pretty poor stuff in my opinion.Let’s have some proper analysis with a few facts rather than pundit babble.
I like Moyes, a very hard worker and has done the best with the cards he was dealt which lets be honest are not too dissimilar to Sunderland, given zero money to spend and not backed at all by the board, despite that he has achieved safety. I do get what Earle is saying, Moyes is a better version of the relegation merchants, he will make us stable in the top half if given a chance but would we go on and win trophies ? Possibly not… if Pellegrini is in the frame perhaps he can do that but I think anyone under our chairmen will struggle, they need serious backing not one player a season but 3 or 4 for a few windows.
