West Ham Vice-Chairman Karen Brady has defended the London Stadium after coming under fire on social media.
The Twitter exchange started after the Baroness published an article saying Richard Branson’s company Virgin should not receive a government bailout as he pays no UK personal tax. A West Ham supporter taunted Brady by saying “But you was alright with the taxpayer paying for West Ham to move to the London stadium even though we had a nice home already”
You’ve almost got to admire the boundless energy Brady puts in to polishing the biggest turd in London. But I suppose the value of those shares she holds is contingent, in part, on the constant polishing.
Getting tired of the rants of very selfish people who berate the London Stadium because they preferred the Boleyn. The Boleyn was equally berated when WHU moved to East Ham – the atmosphere took decades to achieve. The tube travel to Upton Park was awful, and at Stratford another 25,000 fans get to go to the match. We didn’t all have tickets at the Boleyn.
The result6from that Premier Inn survey was taken from 150 people, hardly a representative sample.
We’re there. We ain’t going back to Upton Park. It’s done. Why on earth do people keep banging on about it? If you hate it that much, don’t go but for pities sake give it a rest. Not many of us think it’s better but we cannot go back. It’s getting like Monty Pythons dead parrot sketch.
I agree with you. Partly. The problem is that the people that were responsible for the decision continue to be involved in the Club, continue to profit personally from the decision and continue to peddle half truths about the implications of the decision. Also, the reputation of the Club – which used to be a lot of people’s second Club – continues to be tarnished by its association with the stadium. These sorts of things happen to continue to matter to some people.
And what does keep whinging about it achieve? It just makes us more disliked in the eyes of other supporters.
Well said Mooro , my sentiment exactly.
