Barry Fry’s Sullivan call: “I lied ” says Posh chief

|

Peterborough Director of Football  Barry Fry’s sense of humour came to the surface once again as he apparently refused to answer a call from David Sullivan as he conducted a Sky Sport interview yesterday (Friday).

We reported that Bazza – one time manager at Birmingham City for Sullivan and David Gold – feared that if he answered, the Hammers co chairman might be after his players before the transfer deadline had passed.

He explained as much to the interviewer in the video above but later admitted to ClaretandHugh: “I lied.

Barry has one of the most well known senses of humour in the game but managed to keep a straight face as he explained the phantom Sullivan call.

The story also commands much coverage in today’s Daily Mail but the long serving Peterborough United boss made it clear why he had told his tale.

He laughed “It was done for a giggle  – no more than that. I do like to wind people up a bit.”
