A Twist in the West Ham Tale ?

David Moyes’ tenure at West Ham has been a story of two halves. He brought stability, restored pride, and even delivered a trophy, things West Ham fans had longed for.

However, recent times have been challenging. A string of poor results and a perceived dull playing style have led to questions about Moyes’ future, with his contract expiring at the end of the season.

West Ham’s hierarchy has reportedly interviewed potential replacements, including Ruben Amorim and Julen Lopetegui. A decision on Moyes seems likely only after the season ends.

However, recent results, including unexpected losses by West Ham’s competitors, have opened a small window of opportunity for Moyes.

If West Ham can manage improbable wins against Liverpool, Chelsea, Luton, and potentially a weakened Manchester City, European qualification might still be achievable.

European qualification could change the narrative around Moyes. It might convince the club to extend his contract and make West Ham a more attractive proposition for potential signings.

While a successful run to secure European football seems like a long shot, it could lead to a surprising twist in the Moyes saga at West Ham.

Please god not another year of moyes

    • Jim Goodsll says:

Totally agree. He has to go, should have never been given a second chance.

      • John Faulkner says:

Why do we always dither and act like a small club when an important decision has to be made. Is it due to Sullivan being a small man trying to compete in a big mans game, and its like this that just prove it??

        • Trevor Booking says:

I won’t renew unless he goes. Moyes has made us the most boring team in the league

        • Robert norman says:

How on earth xan sullivan and brady let this serial negative idiot loose on the club any longer?
          Out out now

      • Lee Irving says:

I’d rather not qualify for Europe than for him to stay on. If finishing in 10th means he goes then so be it.

      • charles nicholas norman says:

HE WON THE CONFERENCE CUP OR HAVE YOU FORGOT STAYED IN EUROPEAN COMPETION 3 TIMES YOU NHAVE A SHORT MEMORY

  • Hes Not The Moyesiah says:

Not a cat in hells chance of this

    • Bennyboy baker says:

It would be great if we could get into Europe next year but I would be happy to miss out if moyes was to stay yes he won a trophy and we have been in Europe for the past few seasons but he can’t expect to still be manager given how he ignores the fans and indeed the players he has lost his relationship with the fans and to some extent the players his Attitude is that it’s his way or the highway look at how certain players have been frozen out just because he personally doesn’t like them it’s time up for him I have no doubt that he will go to another club and make all sorts of remarks about our club and how he didn’t get treated right by the club and the fans truth is he bought this situation round he only has himself to blame

  • Selsdonhammer says:

How many more empty Season Tickets Holders’ seats on match day would we have then? Dull Moyes must go.

  • paul lewis says:

We have only won 4 games all year, how the hell are we going to win the next 4, no chance whatsoever

    • Martyn Pleasance says:

Without doubt Moyes has be great for us and has steadied the ship, he must be congratulated on putting a trophy in the cabinet, I’d like him to leave while we all remember this because it’s obvious he can’t take us to the next level and play the football that not only what’s the fans want but with the players we have we should be at another level.

  • Dale james says:

    Yee gods NO!!!!!

  • spanky says:

Inspiring thought. Bet the players can’t wait for another season of sit back and repel.

  • Mark says:

Got more chance of winning the lottery without buying a ticket. Who on earth makes these stupid remarks.
I will be surprised if we get 1 point from last 3 games.
Get real, and get rid of Moyes now. I have never witnessed so much negativity and dross football in 50 yrs.

  • Peter Elliott says:

If Moyes stays then I and my group will definitely not be renewing our season ticket moyesball is appalling football to watch

  • T king says:

The only reason we won a trophy was because we had poor opponents. Look who we’ve lost to this season. Can’t watch negative football any longer. He has to go.

  • Don Lange says:

After supporting the HAMMERS since I was 14 years old,now 88 years old would like to see, more attractive form of football, not this sit back and hope style,
Yes we won a trophy but can,t live on that forever,Must move on GET RID OF MOYES.

  • IronMan says:

Maybe it could lead to a surprising twist, and in the words of SpongeBob’s manager Eugene Krabbs ‘…and maybe scallops will fly out of me underpants’. It would be travesty if we qualified for Europe after squandering so many chances. We have finished the season poorly, as we always do, because Moyes insists on using too few players, does not use his subs properly, fails to promote youth and bring them on, fails to manage recruitment properly, selling players without finding suitable replacements. Shall I go on? None of this needs saying. It is all so predicable. No, we will not qualify for Europe and no, the Moyes leopard will not change its spots. He should have been sacked years ago.

    • Chris, Irish Hammer says:

Completely agree with that summary of his time here, particularly in the last 2 seasons, we’ve been appalling for the majority of games and individual moments of brilliance has seen us win/draw some games. He has to go and more importantly, we have to get the right type of manager in to change the team, tactics and bring through the talented crop of youth players.

  • West Ham Fan no 32 says:

Moyes has stabilised the club like Big Sam did, he has also been more successful on the pitch than BFS but he is limited we have been in decline for two and a half seasons and shouldn’t be with the talent he has at his disposal, we should have won the Europa League the season before but for his negative tactics. We can thank him for his service and recruit someone that can develop youth and operate on a budget, they will have the best youth team we have had in years to develop, if Amorim did say no I suspect it was because he wouldn’t have the funds to replace the 10 or so players that need or will need replacing due to having been sold, old or transferred (including those we haven’t already replaced Johnson, Coufal, Zouma, Ogbonna, Cresswell, Cornet. Benrahma, Paqueta, Fornals, Scamacca, Antonio, Ings, Downes and possibly Fabianski. Whoever comes in is going to have to be in it for the long term.

  • Graham De Roy says:

    Are you on another planet?

  • Justin says:

Careful what you wish for, I would be more worried about losing our best players, give him another season

  • Justin says:

You all want him gone, but we ain’t a bigger enough club to get a top manager, don’t believe everything you read, name the replacement for Moyes

    • Trevor says:

So what do you think would make West Ham a bigger club? We have the fanbase, and the stadium. The revenue must be near to the wealthier clubs’ by now. The playing squad isn’t bad – though it truly needs strengthening here and there to compete. A positive tactical approach and renewed attacking perspective would ensure an improved team performance. There are only three domestic trophies to play for, plus a European opportunity for up to seven English clubs a season. What was once a top four has become a Big Six. I don’t believe that Aston Villa, Newcastle and West Ham are too far from the next level. What Newcastle had last season, are the fortunes that Villa are having right now. Don’t expect them to be top four or five next season if Man United, Spurs and Chelsea get their fingers out. West Ham will be more than OK.

  • De says:

We were all with Moyes, ready for him to make that next step but it’s just not forthcoming. I am very grateful of what David Moyes has done for West Ham. Thanks Dave. But he just can’t or don’t want to take that next step doing it differently to most other teams who have taken that leap has worked to a point and moyes genius lies in getting the most out of that, but it won’t, hasn’t, can’t take us all the way to where we need to go. And outsiders, so called knowledgeable pundits saying West Ham should be thankful for what we have and not try to get on to that next rung of the ladder need to keep their foolish opinions to themselves, in their world no one else has the right to challenge their top six.

  • David Sheppard says:

Don’t even go down that route I think we’ve had enough of these dreadful performances and lack of squad depth over the last 2 seasons. Despite the European ventures the league displays have been far from consistent. So end Moyes stay now.

  • Trevor says:

I think that Moyes has already decided to leave after the last game at Manchester City when his contract expires.

  • Garon says:

I think Moyes has done a fantastic job, winning a European trophy was amazing and made me feel proud to be a Westham fan, he has consistently kept us in the upper half of the premier League and that’s no mean feat when you think about the other teams in the league, however I don’t like the style of football that he seems to favour and it’s not enjoyable to watch, not only that the players must get really frustrated having to play that way, personally I do rate him as a manager however I think that he’s achieved all that he can at the club now and it’s time for a change, possibly a manager with more flare and ambition to take this amazing football club to the next level, will we finish in 7th place? I hope so but it’s unlikely now.

  • Steven Alexander says:

I think his buys of Mavropanos, Kalvin Phillips, Danny Ings & Maxwell Cornet are all bad buys & that he could of done better on the transfer front during last summer & in the window
