Adrian takes chance and looks for more

|

What may or may not happen to Adrian at the end of the season remains to be seen although it is difficult to see him extending his contract or renewing it.

I admire Adrian given the miseries he has suffered over recent years when even finding himself playing second fiddle to Darren Randolph.

At no stage was there any seriously angry response. Instead just a professional acceptance and the decision to quietly go about his business.

That is admirable and it was good to see him getting  chancellor between the sticks in yesterday’s match against Birmingham City although to be honest it was apparent that he wasn’t in the same class as Lukasz Fabianski.

Having said that we maintained a clean sheet and he out well near the end to deliver a very decent smother save as the Blues threatned to grab what might have been a tie changing goal.

And afterwards he told www.whufc.com: “I’m really happy for the team and for the result because we’ve gone through, but also personally because I was back playing in goal.

“Obviously I was happy for the clean sheet as well – every time you keep a clean sheet it’s because you’ve done well in defence.

“We did well, they had their chances, but we scored the second one at the end to secure the result.

“I want to play as many games as possible, so if we go through to the next round I will have more possibility to play.

“We will see – we want to have a good run in the FA Cup because it is a great competition. We need to be focused in the league as well, but [we want to do well] in the cup.”
