Anderson grateful Chicharito unlocked “complicated game”

Felipe Anderson celebrates West Ham's winner with Aaron Cresswell

Chichartio may have blotted his copybook over recent weeks but Felipe Anderson has nothing but good things to say about him after his match winning performance yesterday against Huddersfield.

Most had been baying for the return of Marko Arnautovic but it was the Mexican who made the difference with the two goals but is was more than that which upset the Terriers as they were deprived of a win which would have given them just a slight glimmer of hope at the bottom.

His pace, movement and space finding maneuvers which helped to undo a team which now looks totally down and out.

Two fine headers following another from Angelo Ogbonna saw him spark scenes rarely seen at the  stadium this season and Anderson could not have been more thrilled for a player who is very much Marmite to the Hammers fans.

You do or you don’t but Anderson clearly does!

The Brazilian told www.whufc.com: “I’m very happy for (Chicharito) because he started on the bench and entered the pitch wanting to help.

The match was very complicated and he knew that with his movements he could cause them problems and happily it worked, and we’re very happy for him.

“We train these set pieces as well. We had tried everything and the ball wasn’t going in, so we had to try something different and I’m very happy to send the perfect pass for him.

“Chicharito has a lot of merit because he knew that the ‘keeper was running out and he flicked the ball with his head [and scored the winner].”

“We started well the game, we were pressing them and got the lead but then we slowed our rhythm and they equalised and then scored again.

But we have experienced players and we talked, saying that we needed to keep on pressing them, that we were at home and we managed to get the result.

“It’s never good to have a two-goal deficit, it’s always a problem to recover from that but today we showed our character and intelligence to come back at home.”
