Benny’s huge AFCON day…will he be coming home?

|

Said Benrahma faces a huge day in the African Cup of Nations as Algeria bid to remain in the competition.

They play Ivory Coast later on in what is a must-win game if they are to stay in the tournament that they won last time out.

Algeria drew their opening game with Sierra Leone and were then beaten by Equatorial Guinea in their second game.

It means that they really need to beat Ivory Coast to have any chance of going into the knockout rounds.

A win may not even be enough, as only the four best-placed third-placed teams go through, and a 1-0 win would leave them with a negative goal difference.

Benrahma did not start either of their opening two games but he could well be involved against the Ivory Coast, who kicked off their campaign taking four points from two games.

Defeat would certainly see Benny on the first plane back to England – so we may well be supporting Ivory Coast later today!
