The Irons have been given a boost with the news that Lyon’s star midfielder looks set to miss the Ligue One’s side for the first leg of the Euro League quarter final at the London Stadium on next Thursday.

Maxence Caqueret has been involved in every game for the French outfit this season but according to the usually reliable L’Equipe he could well miss the game at West Ham.

They are reporting the player has picked up a knee injury in training  and will miss both the League game against Angers and ‘probably against West Ham’ as well.

They add that the squad are already working on a new system to cope without him which in itself suggests a possible long term problem.

We are of course aware of the smoke and mirrors routine adopted by managers ahead of key games but given the source this sounds kosher.

Caqueret, has established himself as a key player in the heart of their midfield after rising from the B squad in 2018 but make no mistake, this is a squad packed with talented players regardless.
