Big vote of confidence for Irons striker

|

Wrong chocolate

David Moyes wants Andy Carroll to stay at West Ham and believes he will show his value on the coming months.

The striker has again been unavailable to the team over some seriously difficult games but is now reported to be ready for action again.

His regular absences have led to growing calls for him to be moved on in the transfer window but Moyes appears to be turning a deaf ear to such talk.

Instead he sees him playing a prominent role in the team as we head into the second half of the season.

Speaking to Sky Sports he said: “”I’ll tell you what, I think Andy Carroll would be linked because he’s one of a type, a wee bit of a dying breed, a Duncan Ferguson type.

“But I think Andy Carroll will be a big value to us as the season goes on, and I would hopefully see Andy being here.”

  • Lazurus. rises like a salmon says:

So Moyes has been struck down with Carrollitispoppodomalot fever ? Lofl !! Must be plan B ?
The elbow hoofitup and knock on to nobody system ? When fit , cash in in Jan while he’s still walking ffs , his record speaks for itself ? Unplayable because he is always injured!! Totally disrupts the side when picked , plus he never gets the service he requires and even then hes never in a position to attack the ball ?

I concur Laz. I just don’t get this bleeding fixation with the guy. Not a one-off, a dying breed actually, and for good reason. The cost to serve a player of this type is too big a strain on a team and our future planning should be around pace and counter attack, a formation AC cannot fit into.

I’ll toss my hat in with you guys..
I just can’t understand this over-valued belief in AC; and Ayew is hardly better!
If we could have only got Sakho’s allegiance in place; now there is a decent striker!

Agree w Laz Max & Jimbo. Longest AC has been fit w no serious injuries we have had him for almost half a season on avg past 6 years only had him 25% of season.
And it was always when AC is fit we will be fine & if AC stayed Fit we wouldn’t be able to keep him bc he is so good.
Now he is fit but he changes our game so much slows us down & he helps defense but hasn’t scored all season since last April I know service hasn’t been great but he has played more then Chic our top scorer in PL w 4 goals & one being a header.
That’s said if an offer came in for AC now that he is fit & we had a replacement like Babacar who scored yesterday coming on w 20m just a lil shorter then AC but more rounded & some pace.

No matter what u think of Sahko he is a good CF & I can understand why he might be upset at times when GK makes £130k Chic makes £145k & he made £32k and took him to £20k but £15k extra off bench & £30k extra if starts. £50k to start less then most our players. And he has been on form for club & country he is well rounded CF.
That’s said I would rather get Sahko on a year deal at £50k w performance add ons & sell AC.
£12m for Sakho I just hope they don’t sell him to Palace Brighton or another Rival. I can see him doing well at Palace w Zaha or Brighton w Gross.

If we were to get offered £10m for AC & not take it I would be baffled.
Max on Ayew he at least scores & assists 5&2 in all comps not bad for a squad player. But best in #10 or 2nd striker. We sell all 3 that’s hard to replace in Jan.
