Bilic: “If anyone deserved victory it was Sakho”

|

Sakho crossedSlaven Bilic has paid huge tributes to his team following perhaps the biggest club win of his managerial career.

Speaking to www.whufc.com he said:  “It is great for the Club and I am so happy for everyone at West Ham, but especially for the players because you cannot win here without playing well.

“They created some chances and in the second half they were fighting like a unit from the goalkeeper to the last man. At times we were lucky but you have to be when you are winning at their stadium. They are such a massive team.

“They are by far the best team we have played so far but we were able to control their pressing and we are so happy about it. I am glad for Moses and he is a great asset for us and we are just pleased to have him.

“Sakho is a great player. Some strikers have to score goals to prove their game. If they don’t score they are not playing, but Diafra doesn’t just have to score goals to play well. When you defend like he does when we don’t have the ball, if anyone deserved the victory it was him.”

He worked so hard for the team yesterday. He deserves special praise. We defended from the front back at times & he worked his danglies off.I was so excited lastnight i almost had an accident.Thought i was going to have to go to Wetpants to borrow some nappies 😀

  • TysonM says:

Yep he was so hard working as well as getting the goal.Mind you all the players deserve the utmost praise, they worked so hard, what a rearguard action that was.Amazing defending.
Get the dove of peace to fly over with the nappies Vic,he does daily shuttle runs between the sites 😀

people saying city aren’t the same without kompany and silva but that was still the most expensive team ever assembled in English league football we beat.

  • essexclarets says:

Even when we were defending all of the second half we still played two up front.

  • bubs says:

When you watched Match of the day highlights we had as many chances as they did and with our new style we have to except the other teams will have more ball possession,
Yesterday Sakho put in his normal game but it got noticed more because a part from our defenders the normal stars had quite days,
But Payet,Lanzini and Moses put in a good days work,
The difference was the ball control and passing,
15 passes for the first goal ( brilliant )!Hart Dodgy
    Proud of the whole team
Away Fans Incredible ( well done all there )

I thought he was a beast yesterday… ran everywhere for the full match and got the winning goal as well. When Jelavic come on I thought he was going to run his socks off with those fresh legs BUT Sakho still made him look lazy – hopefully Jelavic will see Sakho’s example and up the effort next time

Sakho was right up there with Adrian & Reid for me .. in-fact the whole team were hero’s

Sakho gives 110%?l and yesterday’s performance made it clear to see because it wasn’t just chasing down balls or closing down on defenders he was literally running from end to end like a true West Ham Warrior! COYI…!

  • Muckracker says:

Sakho is versatile. He thrived under the high-pressing system that BFS stumbled upon in th early part of last season, and now we are seeing a different side to his game, the perfect lone striker

  • Eug says:

Totally agree. He was everywhere and must have covered every blade of grass.
It might have not been noticed by every body especially in the media, but the fact that Bilic (The man that matters) not only noticed but has taken time to highlight Sakho’s great performance, illustrates even further that Bilic perception is bang on.
    COYI
