Bowen backing Irons at Anfield

|

The signing of Jarrod Bowen has made a radical difference to West Ham since his January arrival.

His work rate, readiness to track back, provide a perfect ‘outlet when the defence is under pressure and chip in with goals, has been seriously influential in the team’s struggle out of the relegation zone and their vast improvement this season.

When one considers the position we were in as we went into what they like to call Project Restart last term, to where we are today, that we should be even considering a victory at Anfield is almost miraculous.

But the man himself, and some of us,  believe all things are possible as we head off to merseyside. One thing is for sure; if the Irons are to grab three points – or perhaps just one – at the end of this hugely difficult run of games, the right sided midfielder will almost certainly have much to do with it.

Speaking at https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2020/october/29-october/jarrod-bowen-competition-places-liverpool-and-unity-west-ham when asked whether three points were on he declared: “I think so.

“I think we know how strong the Liverpool team is, but on the back of our performances against Tottenham and Man City, we feel we can take it and go there hoping to achieve as much as we can.

“We know they’re going to have a lot of the ball and try to hurt us in different ways, but as long as we defend well and stay compact, which we always need to do away from home and especially at Liverpool, we can give ourselves a great chance.”

The spirit in the squad and competition within it is key to what’s happening he says adding: “Yes, I think that’s the thing – competition for places really ups [levels in] training and every day you see it.

If you’re not on it, then you know your mate in the same position is going to be on it because everyone is fighting for the shirt.

“I think it’s healthy to have that competition because when you go into a game it’s better as well.”

Bowen’s importance is underlined by the fact that when he isn’t back our right side is the source of oppositions scoring. Has become key at both ends of the pitch.
