Brazilian defender desperate for Hammers exit

West Ham United defender Luizão appears to be attracting interest from several clubs seeking to sign him in the winter transfer window.

Premier League Brazil provided an update on the defender’s situation, indicating that the Hammers have recently received a couple of offers for his departure. Two Portuguese clubs reportedly attempted to secure Luizão on a loan deal, but West Ham turned down both offers.

The players advisers are reportedly baffled that West Ham seem unwilling to entertain all offers for the player. The central defender remains highly regarded in his home country as well as Portugal.

The Hammers are said to be unwilling to loan him out, expressing a preference for negotiating a permanent transfer. Despite interest from Brazilian clubs such as Cruzeiro and Fortaleza, West Ham seem determined to avoid loaning him back to his home country either.

Luizão has not made a single appearance under David Moyes this season, raising concerns among his agents about his situation. Having observed the player closely during the EFL Trophy game against Wycombe, I think that he falls short of Premier League standards. Given this, it seems puzzling why West Ham would be reluctant to let go of a player who is neither wanted nor needed, especially considering his contract runs until 2026.
