CandH competition: Mooro books up for grabs

|
Bobby Moore - The Man in FullThe author of the best Bobby Moore autobiography ever – Bobby Moore The man in full –  has kindly donated three copies of his fine work as competition prizes for ClaretandHugh readers on this special day.
Matt Dickinson’s Mooro masterpiece is now recognised as the most exhaustive and complete work on the great man and here he explains his obsession with the legend of our greatest player.
To have the chance of winning a copy of the book signed by Matt answer this simple question: “How many times was Mooro capped for England.”

“It is 23 years to the day since Bobby Moore died and, even though the decades pass, memories of England’s most successful captain grow stronger and more poignant.
Last year marked 50 years since West Ham’s greatest triumph – that famous night in the Cup Winners’ Cup final at Wembley – and of course this summer marks 50 years since the most celebrated moment in British sporting history when England became world champions and Moore held aloft the Jules Rimet trophy.
It makes us think once again about what Bobby achieved and his unique place in the game.
He did what no other English footballer has done – or, sadly, looks like doing for a long time! – and that was reason enough to write a biography about him. But there were so many other motivations too. As someone born after 1966, who never had the chance to see Moore play live,
I wanted to understand why Pele described him as the world’s greatest defender. I wanted to know why his statue – and his alone – stands outside Wembley, lauding him as a captain and a leader beyond compare.
I wanted to know what made Moore tick; what sort of man he was, on and off the pitch. I wanted to know all about one of the most significant figures in British sporting history because, as we pause to mark the anniversary of his death today, we are reminded that his story, his life, his character, his accomplishments retain a deep fascination,”
