Chicharito rescues priceless point

|

Chelsea 1 The Hammers 1

Magnificent!

We went six points clear of the drop zone courtesy of a thumping equaliser from Chicharito who smashed home a shot from an Arnie pull back close to the goal line midway through the second half.

That levelled Azpilicueta’s 36th minute strike and ensured that we have taken four points from the six on offer over the two games against Antonio Conte’s mob.

But the real heroes – taking nothing from Chicharito or Arnie – were Joe Hart, who made a string of magnificent saves, and magnificent Declan Rice who time and again arrived in the right place to thwart the hosts.

Make no mistake this boy is very special indeed and for me joint man of the match with Hart whose tremendous display came at the right time as he hunts down a World Cup spot.

The draw looked unlikely after Azpilicueta’s  weak dribbling shot following some defensive hesitation hit the net but come on the Hammers battled and battled against a clearly better team to gain an unlikely reward.

Those who had us down for nothing from this match – and there were many of us – can be proud of the lads this afternoon and with Manu Lanzini on his way back for the Stoke match next week we are looking in better and better shape.

Great afternoon – battling performance – TOP result”!
