Come on you Hammers – show us the C word today

|

West Ham have an opportunity to show us they can add a seriously important element to their game this afternoon – CONSISTENCY!

For far too long we have struggled to show that we can perform to a decent level on a regular basis but after six points and seven goals against very good sides now is the moment to show we are becoming the type of team the manager has made it clear he wants.

He spoke recently about his desire for the sort of performance maintenance that separates the good from the average sides.

There’s no better place to score a hat-trick of wins than at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium and another three or four goals without reply would be magic.

It’s been the topsiest and turviest of seasons so far and the north Londoners managed a 6-1 at Man U last weekend whilst we were putting Brendan Rodgers in their place big time,

The manager – in his latest comments – makes it clear that if we defend well – and we did so brilliantly at Leicester – whilst remembering to punish the spuds, all will be well.

The second part of that goes without saying of course but it won’t be straightforward and if Spurs play a game which nullifies our counter attacking prowess it could get tricky.

Much has been made of the possible Gareth Bale return but if there’ a decent time to play him it will be now before he’s up to full speed.

So long as we can keep it as tight at the back – still an uncertain ask – as we did last weekend I see no cause for real worry. We are showing that at our best we are a very decent side.

However, I expect goals and see the most likely outcome as a draw.

Hughie’s prediction: 1-1
