Vladimir Coufal was rightly recognised as the signing of the season in yesterday’s West Ham player awards which were revealed yesterday evening.
Also great that he was named runner-up in the Hammer of the year award behind his Czech mate Tomas Soucek.
It is a shame that they didn’t have an award for the best individual performance for last season like they have in previous years.
His performance against Aston Villa when he had £100m Jack Grealish in his pocket for the whole game would have been a clear winner.
Coufal only cost West Ham £5m from Slavia Prague and that has to be one of the best value for money buys of the decade in the Premier League.
There was no sign of the reported frustration when he picked up his signing of the season award. He just looks like someone who is enjoying his football and wants to play more. I am sure the club and his representatives will agree on a contract in time without the help of negative media stories suggesting he is unhappy.
Coufal told supporters on social media ” I would like to say many thanks all who voted for me. It means a lot for me also thanks to all my teammates and people who have stood with me when I came. It has helped me so much. I hope we will have at least a similar season like last time. I am looking forward to you my HAMMERS “
If we tie him, Dec and Soucek down to long contracts we can build a team around them. They are World Class players if GSB can’t find a way to sort that out then they will go down like all our former chairmen as people who had the Crown Jewels in their hands and threw them down the drain.
