Cresswell pledges Irons will push on and on

|

Aaron Cresswell is a good guy to listen to when discussing the “collective will” of the new West Ham United.

And ahead of the Liverpool game, the cockney scouser is convinced it’s precisely that which will push the Hammers forward this season.

Cress has been in great form since the Irons went on their six-game winning streak prompting calls in some areas for an England call-up.

But all he is currently concerned with is the Irons and is determined the current standards don’t drop during the second half of the season which could hardly start, of course, with a more difficult game.

That they sit just a couple of points behind the champions shows clearer than any words the strides the squad has made under the Moyes management.

But it’s a perfect game to start the momentum which can carry the Irons forward to a position which surely nobody could have imagined at the start of the season.

And speaking at https://www.whufc.com/news/articles/2021/january/30-january/cresswell-well-keep-pushing-forwards the long-serving Irons left-back said: “The way that the club’s changed for me has been the most important thing over the past year.”

“Put that together with the form on the pitch and that’s what every club wants. If you are taking the club forward then winning comes hand in hand.

“The manager won’t let anyone get complacent – even if we were first in the league, he wouldn’t slack. He wouldn’t let off training. If anything, he’d make it harder.

“If you get comfortable with what you’ve got, it’ll soon change. Before you know it – with this Premier League season – you lose two or three games and all of a sudden, you’ve dropped five places, with the league being so tight this year.”

“It will be a tough game, but certainly it’s one that we are relishing and will look to get maximum points in,” he added.

“Why can’t we? we’re doing well at the minute, we are playing good stuff, and we are full of confidence. So there’s no reason why we can’t.”

“I think the league is definitely wide open. There’s no reason why we can’t surprise a few and finish high up there.

“But we’re not looking too far ahead. It’s just all about the next game. And that’s what we’ve got to do from now until the end of the season.”

Cresswell was also delighted to welcome Jesse Lingard to the Hammers squad and said: “I’ve been in the England squad with him a few times. He’s missed a lot of football over the last year. But if you look at his CV for United prior to that he’s played for England, a lot of times.

“He’s a fantastic player, there’s no question about that. So it will be good for him to come to us where hopefully he can play and fit straight in.  I think he’ll be a great asset for us.”

The cockney scouser lol. How long before we can call Davy Moyes the Cockney Scotsman, or Cockney Jock?

Not only does Cresswell capture the management style and the expectation from Moyes with our New West Ham Way, but he is also one of the best examples of what Moyes has created at this club.
Like most, I had forgotten how talented a player that Cresswell is and the very reason why he won his England call ups. He has one of the best left feet in the business with his pinpoint crossing and free-kicks….. and just like the squad, we’re also beginning to believe.
GSB, Moyes has taken the negativity and the focus away from you and has put the focus back where it belongs…on the pitch, I hope that you are currently drafting up a rare “long-term” contract for Moyes…. because it won’t be long before some clubs come knocking!

If Everton ever take a real dip in form or Ancelotti decides to move on I guarantee you they will come after Moyes. If that was the case I think we’d have a hard job keeping him.
