Danger Man Richarlison By Blind Hammer

In the second part of his analysis of the Everton challenge, Blind Hammer suggests turning an Everton strength into a weakness.

The fact that Marco Silva is a fan of Richarlison is no secret. His top priority after his controversial move from Watford to Everton was to be reunited with his young star Brazilian playmaker.

Richarlison has been a quality performer for Silva and tormented West Ham in his Watford days.

Richarlison took no part in the reverse Goodison fixture in September as he was serving out a ban. , He cut a frustrated figure as West Ham took advantage to carve out a 3-1 victory.

Richarlison has scored 12 goals for Everton and has an impressive pass completion accuracy rate of over 96%, very high for an offensive playmaker. Surprisingly though he has only 1 direct goal assist.

Nevertheless, Toffee fans consider him to be at the heart of everything good. Yet Richarlison’s strength provides the key to Everton’s weakness. Everton ’s followers this season have complained about Silva’s over-reliance on Richarlison.

Silva is such a fan of Richarlison he has built his team around his talents. Without Richarlison Everton struggle, as they did against the \Hammers in September. In addition, Everton fans fear that if an opposition stops Richarlison they have no Plan B.

Stopping Richarlison is as important as creating our own threat.

My Father, born in 1891 was brought up in the shadows of the Thames Ironworks Memorial Ground. I remember as a child jumping over the settee when Alan Sealy scored in our 1965 European Cup Winners triumph.

My first game was against Leicester in 1968, when Martin Peters scored what was adjudged by ITV’s Big Match as the Goal of the Season.

I became a season ticket holder in 1970.

I was registered blind in 1986 and thought my West Ham supporting days were over. However in 2010 I learnt about the fantastic support West Ham offer to Blind and other Disabled Supporters. I now use the Insightful Irons in-stadium commentary service and West Ham provide space for my Guide Dog Nyle.

I sit on the West Ham Disabled Supporters Board and the LLDC Built Environment Access Panel.

Good point and worrying given our ‘generous’ defence. Perhaps now’s not a good time to experiment with the back two by bringing Balbuena back?
