David Moyes gives transfer update

|

David Moyes has repeated the January transfer window is a tough market and he will try to add one player, two at a push but admitted he may sign no more.

Speaking to reporters at his pre-match press conference before tomorrow’s game against Leicester City the manager said on transfers:

“Probably the same story – trying to bring them in, trying to do it quickly if the right ones are there but you’re hearing it from all the managers’ it’s not easy to do business in January. We could really do with players who hit the ground running but also for the future as well and trying to get that balance is not easy this month.

Asked outright whether Sander Berge was a target Moyes replied “We’ve been linked with quite a few so identifying just one would be wrong, you could name ten or twelve.

Obviously we will try to add one player, maybe two at a push but there is a good chance we couldn’t get anybody, like most clubs.”

Ffs there is like 13 senior players and relegation is looming. Without injuries we need two central midfielders and two strikers. What the hell is Sully doing? Nobody believes we sign no one because of Moyes. Board should back their new and shiny (free) manager. LIES LIES LIES. I predict worse riots than the Burnley one and ongoing ones if there is no new players coming. Well protest should be ongoing anyways until dildos have left our club.

    Well, that escalated quickly!

I’ve been reading this site for while now and it seems that anyone that says anything anti the board seems to be banished from it or slapped down by you hugh? We know you have good links in the club so do you monitor anyone who has a strong opinion against the board and then decide they have to go to keep your sources happy

One player maybe two. But maybe no one ..wow
If thats the case then I see nothing other than relegation for sure ..sad times indeed …

Need a striker and midfield at least but if I am honest I only want us to buy if we are buying top players for the future. I would prefer no signings if we cant get the ones we want but there must be good options out there.

I suspect Moyes is just being honest. It’s well known he takes ages to decide who he’ll sign and that coupled with targets being identified by Sullivan’s trusted agents, is not going to do us any favours this January. Without a new CM I do fear we’re going to continue to struggle and Sullivan’s usual gamble that we’re do just enough to stay in the Premier League may not pay off this time. At the moment it’s hard to see three worse teams than us.

True a bit like his subs, he takes ages. Assuming he does have a decent budget.

Probably be Joe Allen and giroud in the last 2 days.

By then we will be grateful for anyone.

There’s one massive bullet we’ve been dodging for a long time and that’s an injury to Declan Rice. For some reason he doesn’t seem to be getting the plaudits he received last season but he’s absolutely pivotal to any chance of putting a decent run together in the last 16 games. After a decent start, Haller’s been massively disappointing. I realise he’s been trying to do things single-handedly but that doesn’t explain why his first touch and general mobility are now so poor. Therefore I agree with other comments, a midfielder and striker required urgently as we definitely are under serious threat of the drop (as usual). One thing I would take a gamble on immediately would be to move Diop to RB. He’s a better defender than Fredericks and has a lot more pace than Zaba. Now Reid is fit again we have enough options in the middle of defence. One last thing…… if Antonio returns soon and stays fit, that will give players, fans and the Manager a massive boost – fingers crossed.
