Declan reacts to Sevilla tie

|

Declan Rice has sent a very clear message to the squad and fans ahead of the cl;ash against Sevilla in the last sixteen of the Europa Cup.

Let’s be fair this is as tough as it gets – probably more so than even Barcelona who have not been in the greatest form over the last 12 months or so.

Stuart Pearce was the man who broke the news to the squad as they started training at  Rush Green  this morning and if faces fell nobody noticed.

Sevilla have a fantastic record in the competition and are currently second in La Liga but the captain had a very clear view on what such a test means at this stage of the competition.

He knows that if we can push them out of the way at this stage then we could be well and truly on our way to winning the trophy.

He declared: “We were training, we start at 11. Stuart Pearce came out and said at the top of his voice that it was Sevilla.

When we finished training we took it in and they’re a massive club, it’s going to be a tough tie but if we want to compete with the best and test ourselves against the best then we’ve got beat the best.

We’re all excited, all the lads and the manager and of course the fans are looking forward to it.”
