Disappointment for Moyes and Sullivan

|

David Moyes and David Sullivan are this morning reported as having watched possible summer targets as  the Czech Republic beat Scotland 2-0 at Hampden park yesterday.

Chairman’s son Jack Sullivan was also spotted at the game.

The report comes per Hammers News who correctly imply the pair would have been disappointed with what they saw – Tomas Soucek and Vladi Coufal excepted.

It has become pretty clear the Hammers remain keenly interested in targets from the Czech international team given their more than useful links with Slavia Prague.

But they will have learned little from yesterday’s game where the once named target, Spartak Moscow’s Alex Kral had a less than average game and was subbed.

Adam  Hlozek came on but was barely involved.

Star of the show was double goal scorer Bayer Leverkusen star Patrik Schick who produced one of the best front man performances seen at the tournament so far.

He, however, is unavailable with a contract until 2025 and valued at well over £30 million.

The hunt continues!

I realise it’s only one game, and there seem to be alternative options, but we know that getting a decent striker will cost a few bob, so it can’t hurt to test the water with Leverkusen can it. I guess the same would go for Weghorst and Wolfsburg.

It was a chance to assess Kral but not Hlozek! Would be crazy not to go after him.

I would say that Hlozek his a player that we should sign, he is an incredible talent. I don’t believe for a second a manager like Moyes would assess a player on 20 mins which seems to be the indication given here about Moyes. If he were then he should be assessing the player on the 4 goals he scored in 45 minutes. A top player and one that will turn out to be a great investment.

All players have had a long couple of seasons, Kane was subbed also as were a number of good players, managers will spare the legs of many during this tournament to prevent injuries so reading into that might be good for journalism but could be a false economy when it comes to the truth. I thought Kral showed a lot of composure on the ball, playing a lot of good passes when under pressure, Hlozek also showed great game mgmt and touch creating a golden opportunity for Schick to get his hatrick.

Can’t judge Hlozek or Kral on one performance, DM is smarter than that . Hlozek I believe would be worth going for & Kral he has promise , he done Ok but can probably do more.
