Fabulous Fornals thrilled to bits

|

Pablo Fornals was understandably delighted with his match winning strike for Spain’s under 21s against Belgium last night.

He smashed home a fabulous shot after the team had piled into the Belgian lads in a game which could have given them a near avalanche of goals.

In the end the new Hammer was the man of the moment after arriving as a sub and showing himself to be a hugely inventive performer.

And discussing the game afterwards he was in upbeat mood declaring: “They all count, it’s a goal and it’s enough to give us the three points.

“Maybe on a different day, the game would have finished 5-1 to us and been a different match. But your opponent plays their part and their keeper had a worldie.

“We couldn’t find a way through until right until to the end with my goal.”

Fornals looks precisely what the Hammers need and was particularly impressive when pushing in behind the strikers – a role he looks set to adopt at West Ham.

And that will probably mean he and Manu Lanzini will be in competition for the ‘in the hole’ role with Anderson on the left.

It will provide plenty of options for the manager who has an embarrassment of riches at his disposal in the midfield but it would be a big surprise if the new signing didn’t start in the first game against Manchester City.

This was the man Pellegrini wanted above all others apparently and on the strength of the 45 minutes he had against Belgium it was pretty easy to see why.
