Final Boleyn Ground game faces cancellation

|

LadiesThe last Premier League game was played on Tuesday night at the Boleyn Ground but there are a number of end of season charity games planned and this was set to culminate with a West Ham Ladies game against a West Ham All-Stars XI organised by the co-chairman’s son Jack Sullivan. The club promoted the game this evening on the official website but it has been met with a fans backlash who think Tuesday should be the last game which has forced young Jack quickly to rethink his plans.

One fan wrote to Jack saying “You have no idea how many fans this will piss off… people that have been going for generations” another said “insulting to the fans to play there again… use rush green it’s more than big enough”

WHUFC.com announced today:

“West Ham United Ladies will be hosting a charity game at the Boleyn Ground on Sunday 5 June, with all proceedings going to the support of the Club for next season. The Ladies team will take on a team of famous Hammers fans and former players on what will be one of the final pitch events of the summer. Entry will be free but fans will be given the opportunity to donate money to the Ladies on the day. Stephen Hunt, Chairman of West Ham United Ladies, said: “When Jack Sullivan came up with the idea for this game we were delighted and we are really looking forward to it. Not only will it give us a chance to raise some valuable funds but it’ll give some of the Hammers legends a chance to play on the Boleyn pitch one last time.“Hopefully we’ll get plenty of support on the day as people want to come and say goodbye to the Boleyn Ground a final time.”
westhamladiesWest Ham United Joint-Chairman David Sullivan said: “We are delighted to set up this game to help support the Ladies team. It will also give our fans and some familiar faces the chance to sample the Boleyn one last time. It would be fantastic to see a good turnout on the day to help raise as much money as we can. As the entry is free we would encourage supporters to give a few pounds admission, but this also is an opportunity for all supporters to say farewell to the ground entirely free.”
jacksJack Sullivan later tweeted out “I’ve spoken to a lot of people about it and all have been possible. But after tonight, I think we have to rethink the idea! I’m a bit gutted as I’ve tried to make this work for the last few month and had some big names coming! BUT the fans have spoken.”
He addedI would buy the West Ham ladies and work on them tirelessly if I had the chance! I’ve worked so hard on getting this game to go ahead. I’ve got celebs there I’ve got it moved to Upton Park. However if the fans are not happy, it can’t go ahead. I’m honestly so upset I’ve worked for 2months on this”

West Ham Ladies chairman, Stephen Hunt posted: “I am shocked at some of the recent posts. Let fans who didn’t get in have the chance see the ground for free. It doesn’t take away Tuesday.”

Sources close to Jack Sullivan tell us he got the game moved from Rush Green to the Boleyn Ground. He had approached Ray Winston, Russell Brand, James Corden and a host of former Hammers to face the West Ham Ladies. Even 79 year old co-chairman David Gold had agreed to pull on his boots for a short cameo role as we revealed last week.

This is what my boy was telling me about.Another game for the ladies can’t take away me memories from Tuesday.Let em play. Dome blindly ignore the serious issues in life then take to this Twitter to go garrity about this. Some have strange priorities in life.Wait until they are my age, then they will have something to really moan about.Give Gold his chance to play again.

One thing I have come to realise as I have got older Jack is that people are a mystery to me.Some of the things that can set them into frenzies of displeasure go straight over my head lol

How selfish some people are. The lucky ones who were there on tuesday should show some class and let others who wern’t so fortunate have the chance to say their own farewells. Egos must be pretty massive. Do they also want to cancel the U P FC V Engineers game and deprive much deserved charity money going to great causes.lighten up guys.
