A new claim from The Daily Mail suggests West Ham could take Armando Broja on LOAN from Chelsea.
The Hammers have been eyeing up a swoop for the Albania international all summer.
David Moyes has placed him at the top of his transfer wishlist when it comes to new strikers.
The Hammers were prepared to pay up to £30m to land their man.
But the Mail now reports that Chelsea are only set to sanction a loan, as they are not ready to cash in on him just yet.
The Hammers are said to be ready to take him on a short-term deal and then attempt to convince him to stay at the end of the season.
Broja went on loan to Southampton last season and impressed, becoming their first-choice striker and scoring nine goals in the process.
The Irons are also keeping a close eye on Blackburn’s Ben Brereton Diaz, although a deal for Sassuolo’s Gianluca Scamacca now seems unlikely.
Moyes wants Broja and it may be that this compromise is just what’s needed to push a deal through.
This would be a terrible deal for us. If he does well his valuation shoots up and they have a bargaining chip to get Dec without us giving us a huge transfer fee.
IMHO Happily take a young, promising player on loan for 1 season because:
A) scores lots of goals for West Ham for a relatively small loan fee
B) He turns out to be ‘pony’ and West Ham didn’t splash £35mil. on him and have a 5 year deal costing another £35mil.
Or the Lingard saga over again.
If there is any truth in this then West Ham should avoid a loan deal unless there is an option to buy. Otherwise we end up as a finishing school for Chelsea, as with Palace and Conor Gallagher, and derive no long-term benefit. What happened with us and Lingard should be remembered: no option to buy there. Let’s actually sign someone who wants to play for us. How about Scamacca, for whom we have apparently bid, but now Moyes isn’t sure about?
Fed up with the same crap , we have cooled on Scamacca . We should be lucky to get hun & go all out to sign him . Don’t matter about Broja we are so full of it when comes to signing quality .
