Maybe, just maybe the discussion surrounding the continuation of the season will abate with the fabulous news that the Oxford vaccine has been approved!
This is the one that has always been seen as the game changer.
And we can now genuinely start to believe for a reasonably rapid return to the world as we once knew it with 100 million doses ordered by the government.
More importantly, it is the vaccine which – unlike the other two already approved – can be stored at normal fridge temperatures thus making it available from doctors’ surgeries and probably even local pharmacies.
It would seem the government is preparing to start the roll-out on Monday of next week according to most reports I’ve read this morning.
And that could reduce the need for a circuit breaker in the game as called for by recommended by Sam Allardyce after the 0-5 defeat of his West Brom team by Leeds.
The Premier League will now have a strong case for arguing that things can get no worse and slowly better with the next two months – whilst still difficult – obviously not getting worse.
Will be a lot longer than two months before enough Have been given this to make a real difference
Yes but my point is that there has to be a gradual improvement rather than a continuation of what we are seeing Craig
Hope you are right Hugh, hope also that the implementation of the vaccination programme is efficient and effective, it’s one thing to have the doses it’s another to administer them. Well done to all those that have worked tirelessly to develop it and all the front line staff that have coped so well under pressure while waiting for the breakthrough.
