David Gold has handed Michail Antonio a huge honour declaring him the most determined, and energetic player he has ever seen in a Hammers shirt.
The co chairman was a constant source of encouragement to the £7 million signing when he arrived at the club last season and was forced to wait until November for his chance.
But since then he has become a huge favourite with the Hammers faithful and Gold today – in an exclsuive interview with ClaretandHugh – declared him as the most high energy player in Irons history.
He said: “I used to watch Frank Lampard and wonder how he could defencd as he did and then got forward and back. Frank was amazing player but I honestly believe Michail is better than him.
“I know that’s a very big statement but I have – like everybody else – been absolutely astonished by him. I can’t remember seeing a player like him apart from Frank snr. The boy is amazing.”
An DG reckons Antonio is a nailed on future England player under Sam Allardyce declaring: “He really is an Allardyce player. He never stops and there’s always an end product. A great player.”
He was MY Hammer of the Year. I am THRILLED to hear DG’s resounding endorsement…so can’t we give him the right wing like he truly deserves?
Without a proper fit-for-purpose RB, we are STUCK with 3 across the back or wasting Antonio as a RB….
Now, he’s too much of a team player to complain, but he just let his disappointment at playing RB slip by rolling his eyes in an unguarded moment (which he quickly corrected) in an interview last season…SO he doesn’t WANT to play RB. IF he is THAT good, why is RB basically the plan for him?
Can’t Slav at least say SOMETHING on this??…
he is definately something special. He is unique in todays football.
