West Ham are closing in on the signing of Lucas Paqueta from Lyon for a fee of £52m all in.
The Irons have agreed to pay £37m for the Brazil international along with £15m worth of add-ons.
That will take the overall package to £52m, and a top source at the club has confirmed that the deal is inching closer and the Irons are ‘90% there’.
David Moyes confirmed after the 1-0 win over Aston Villa that Paqueta has undergone his medical with the club and the formalities are being ironed out.
Paqueta has been a key target for the club and they have been working on a deal since last week.
A breakthrough was reached over the weekend, as figures were worked out, and the Hammers have now entered the final stages of negotiations.
Barring any late, unforeseen hitches, Paqueta is going to be a West Ham player before the end of the week.
It’s official. HAPPY DAYS!
COYI
Sounds like both Arsenal and Spuds have made moves for him.
Oh well…Ross Barkley is now a free agent.
West Ham Zone are claiming that Paqueta has now signed for US. Which if true is great news. I must confess I was fearing the worse and it does appear another Premier League side did attempt to hijack the deal. I still want believe it until the Official site announces it. But hopefully the deal is over the line. Mind you getting any information was next to impossible. Hugh, can you give us the latest info. We look to you for the latest updates.
Blame the parasite agents! It’s the same for all clubs below top six usual suspects. If you want a player who can get us into top six then always a risk from a club already there!
Much easier to sign players who will keep you in top league. Our ambitions will attract interest.
Hugh. What’s happening with Paqueta? Who is the club that have stolen him, from us? Why is there no word coming out on this? This was supposed to have been all done and dusted Saturday. Then it was Sunday morning. Then it was going to be today. Now another club have stolen him. What going on?
He’s signed as we explained he would
Can’t C&H tap that famous club source for some definitive information on the latest situation regarding the Lyon president’s comments?
We have said all along he will sign and he has
If it’s Spurs, he we probably be able to play against us, on Wednesday.
History repeating itself AGAIN. Why oh Why do we take so long getting transfers over the line? It costs us time and again. And guess what. It’s happening AGAIN.
A mystery English Premier team is at the last moment Hijacking the deal.
Yes again another player being stolen from, right under our noses.
Either Liverpool or a rival London team.
We could still miss out on him. Quote from Lyon’s President today,” It’s unfortunate that Lucas Paqueta is leaving. But he wanted to leave. We thought we had very big clubs, we didn’t have them. We had to talk at the last moment with West Ham. Now I know that there was an English club that wanted to come forward at the last moment so maybe tomorrow morning we’ll wake up with a novelty. I can’t tell you the name.”
Why oh why do we continue to drag 9ur feet over transfers.
Lyon president says another PL club has come in at the 11th hour. Can’t understand why this is taking so long to wrap up
This will be tremendous. We need quality in transition, and with Cornet, Benrahma, Bowen and Paqueta supporting Scamacca with Rice sweeping in front of a back four we may well look very tasty!
Why does every West Ham transfer become so protracted?
We hear ‘should be today or tomorrow, or by the end of the week’.
Is every club’s negotiations so long winded?
normally yes
We have a habit of dithering and losing out. Darren Bent taken off the tips of our toes by Spurs. Benayoun on the verge of signing a new contract and then announcing he’s going to Liverpool. That’s just a couple off the top of my head. The contract was going to be signed yesterday we were told. Now it’s this week some time. For it only to be 90% done says to me something’s not quite right.
Other clubs get their business done early and decisively.
… and now we have the latest comments from the Lyon president about a PL club muscling in at the last minute.
So typical!!
Wanting the official announcement !
