Report: Hammers man wanted by Villa

|

Aston Villa are eyeing a move for Craig Dawson before the transfer deadline, reports The Sun.

The newspaper claims that Steven Gerrard’s side are desperately attempting to strengthen their backline ahead of the final week of the window.

Steven Gerrard is said to be a big fan of Dawson and wants to give him a two-year deal, with the report claiming the centre-back is willing to leave the London Stadium for guaranteed minutes.

The Irons remain reluctant to sell Dawson but Villa are scrambling after losing marquee signing Diego Carlos to a serious injury.

Dawson has been dealing with injuries this season and has yet to play in the Premier League, although he played 34 times in the league last season, becoming a genuinely key player under Moyes.

The Hammers have Thilo Kehrer, Kurt Zouma, and Angelo Ogbonna as their fit options in central defence besides Dawson, while Nayef Aguerd is injured.

Selling a gold plated reliable c/B like Daws should not be our priority when for 2 weeks we had to play Ben out of position to fill the gap. Daws was heroic last season playing nearly every match – he is not a makeweight.

I agree with hammerpete6. Craig Dawson IS massive! He deserves much respect and here status as far as I’m concerned. He stood tall many a time as our last line of defence and we owe him lots of love. We cannot allow him to leave West Ham for the foreseeable future!
