Hammers adopt ‘wait and see’ policy on midfielder

|

West Ham are adopting a ‘wait and see’ approach to Samir Nasri despite reports that he needs to shift a lot of weight if he’s to get a deal at the club.

Morning reports in The Sun claim he needs to shift five kilos  and quote insiders as saying there is little chance he  can expect anything other than a short-term deal.

The insider added: “He has a long way to go to prove himself.”

However, when ClaretandHugh approached its regular senior source by phone we were given a slightly different story.

He explained that the 31 year old was putting in the work but declared: “It’s too early to make any sort of judgement on where he will be by the time the end of the month.

“He will be monitored closely and the time to make a judgement will be by around Christmas given he would be free to play from January 1. We will have to wait and see.”

However, it has become very clear over the last couple of weeks that the Hammers consider an £80k a week six month contract to be a non starter and that around half of that plus appearance bonuses is what’s likely to be on offer.

West Ham United & Pelligrini are playing this very close to Thier chests . IMO they wouldn’t be bothering if there was no future in it . Nasri was quality and can be quality again . It’s all down to how the club and Nasri respond . With Carroll on the mend and needing match fitness ( which is completely down to Pelligrini ) plus the likes of Rice and Anderson with Wilshire / Noble I think there is a lot to be optimistic about . Injuries have been and continue to be our Biggest burden in any campaign . It’s like a forever thing we can’t shake off . Other teams will doubtlessly have injury issues whilst our injury list is getting shorter . Not half way through the season and the festive period on the horizon . It’s still all to play for . Don’t forget the majority of teams below us haven’t had the run of top opposition yet . Our resurgence will begin with Victory at St James Park on Saturday . We will finish above mid table ,,,, I am convinced of it . But Sadly no Silverware .
