Hammers await outcome of play off final

|

David Moyes will be closely watching the Championship play-off final this afternoon as Brentford take on Swansea City at Wembley.

Brentford’s Ivan Toney is one striker on the list of potential West Ham targets this summer.

The 25-year-old has a contract with the Bees until 2025 but after scoring 29 goals in 47  games this season is now on the radar of several top clubs.

The Hammers are claimed to have been talking to the player’s representatives for the former Peterborough United and Northampton Town striker.

He joined the Bees last season after scoring 40 goals in 76 appearances for the Posh and director of football at London Road Barry Fry revealed recently that he had recommended the player to his former Birmingham City chairman David Sullivan.

He is attracting the attention of several Premier League clubs which are believed to include Everton, Leeds, Wolves and Palace.

However, all five clubs could miss out if the Bees win today and are promoted to the Premier League.

Well if he was on our striker list he will be well and truly off it tonight and not because Brentford won, another over rated player, I think I would want alot more from a player who is worth 25-30m, he contributed little or nothing apart from a pen.

Well now Brentford have been promoted – so it looks like Ivan Toney will stay with them. He seems like a good player and takes an awesome penalty – but 11 penalties also helps to swell his goal tally

Any player who has scored as many goals as Ivan Toney is OBVIOUSLY a player of ability, penalties Also happen to be part of the game. Would anyone have discounted Shearer’s penalties that he scored as a striker? In fact his ability to take and score from the spot, tells you loads about his temperament under pressure and during the big moments…. He has loads about his game and is a genuine team player.
Is he the type of striker that Moyes is looking for? …only time will tell. But I will back Moyes on ANY decision he makes.

He is not as good as Watkins, probably not available also now, we should go for Daka and Weghorst who will both be cheaper and more experienced at the top level. If we could get them combined for £45m would be a good start and we know they will fit Moyes style.
