Hammers considering London Stadium pre-season friendly

|

West Ham are seriously considering putting on a pre-season friendly at the London Stadium on Saturday 3rd August before the Premier League kicks off on 10th August.

The Hammers last played a home pre-season friendly against Juventus in August 2016 as the official opening game of the London Stadium.

The Anniversary Games Athletics are due to finish on 21st July but the seating turn around to return to football mode is just seven days meaning the stadium will ready before the end of July.

Should West Ham qualify for Europa League by claiming 7th spot they could also still play on Thursday 8th August for the first leg of the third qualifying round.

West Ham would need to pay the stadium owners their considerable running costs and a facility fee which combined are thought to be up £550,000 for a friendly but they still believe they could turn a profit with the right opposition and a crowd of between 30,000 to 40,000.
