Merson accuses Irons of being “on the beach”

|

Paul Merson has jumped on West Ham’s case after the last game against Everton claiming the squad has gone on its holidays.

Merson appears to have ignored the previous seven games at the London Stadium which saw the team  unbeaten in seven games..

It’s an easy criticism to make of any mid table team at this point of the season of course and with injuries to Felipe Anderson and Samir Nasri one which really can’t be treated overly seriously.

Merson knows better, and maybe he was guilty of it in his campaign, but for professional athletes to go into the field of action ready to give less than 100 per cent really isn’t a discussion worth having.

Merson, however, in making the accusation is concentrating solely on the Everton defeat which at best seems a little unbalanced.

He’s entitled to his view and its one that will no doubt be held by others but it’s not one we can share.

He told Sky Sports: “West Ham are on the beach a bit as they are safe and going nowhere. They got found out against Everton and if it wasn’t for Fabianski it could have been any score,”

Well, what has he said that is not correct ? Did ANY of the team show up against Everton ( not including Fabianski & Rice) ? No, they did not . It was a pitiful & disgraceful performance. They ought to be thoroughly ashamed of themselves – & prove it by giving their ill gotten rewards to charity. They might as well have been on the beach. Well said Merson !

I’m afraid I too agree with Merson. They didn’t turn up at Cardiff., Huddersfield game was a face saviour in th last minutes ,and as for last week’s game against Everton I felt at the end that I’d waisted 90 or so minutes of my life ! It seems there is one game to many after getting past the 40 point mark ? But looking at a positive side reaching a Europa cup place is like playing for a chalice of poison? Most middle to bottom teams suffer in the premiership while taking part? You need 22 good squad players we find it hard to get 11 ? And anyway l like Saturday football (now and then) do not like Thursday and Sunday witch will happen with the Europa cup ( pretty selfish l know) but let’s get the premiership run of things get settled ,first, “let’s walk before we can run”

Merson’s a ****, but he’s absolutely right in this respect. What I saw against Everton was a complete disgrace.
