Hammers deny £6.5 million midfielder move

|

Reports that West Ham have had a £6.5 million bid for defensive midfielder Gary Medel have been denied by the Hammers.

The 31 year old has been named as a target for Manuel Pellegrini but reports from Talksport that an opening £6.5 million offer had been rejected were described to ClaretandHugh this afternoon as “inaccurate.”

The manager is keen to bring in more midfield cover given the number of games played by Declan Rice and the injury to Carlos Sanchez.

Medel-currently with Besiktas –  was seen as a serious target but according to our senior source – contacting us by telephone – the £6.5 million rejection is not true.

Medel – once with Cardiff City –  is keen on a PL return but the Hammers are still considering their transfer window targets.

We were told:  “We have made no offers for Medel and in any case he would cost less than £6.5m ! The reality is we have made no offers for ANY players at this time.”
