Hammers eyeing obscure right-back

|

West Ham are eyeing a potential deal to sign a right-back from France’s second-tier, per Foot Mercato.

The Hammers are said to be eyeing a move to sign Koffi Kouao from FC Metz, who are currently in Ligue 2.

The two clubs have done business together before, when the Irons signed Diafra Sakho from the French side back in 2014/15.

Kouao is a right-back and he only joined Metz in the summer, moving from Portuguese club Vizela.

He is an Ivory Coast international with two caps and the Irons are said to have placed him on their shortlist of potential signings in the January transfer window.

Vlad Coufal, of course, could well leave this month and if he does, the Irons will need to source a replacement; David Moyes has consistently outlined that the club will only go into the market if a player leaves.

It remains to be seen how a move for a full-back in the second-tier of French football would go down, however.
